A 2014 refurbishment of an existing pub, the Crafty Crow is Magpie Brewery's first pub. Following on from the ethics of the brewery, self sufficiency abounds with UK-sourced green energy and recycling, from wooden pallets to beer casks all around. Metal self made finials adorn wooden balustrade posts and corvids appear throughout. Even the toilet facilities follow this, using ex-keg fonts to dispense hot and cold water into sinks made from beer casks. Climbing the steps to the main entrance reveals a lobby furnished with unusual tables and comfortable seating. More steps lead up to the main bar area, which overlooks the entrance, with a raised seating area to the left, opposite this main bar area. Settles surround the wall and this is repeated on the opposite side of the bar. A side entrance off Standard Hill is disabled-friendly, leading directly to the bar and facilities. The central bar has 10 handpumps, 8 dispensing beer from microbreweries, with the other 2 serving traditional cider. Facing the central side of the bar is a cannibalised Grundy conditioning tank which hosts 8 keg fonts to dispense micro craft beers and lagers. The only National brand you will find is the range of Fentimans soft drinks. A range of local artisan snacks offered.
