Overlooked by Nottingham Castle, this pub has a large frontage, but is quite narrow inside. Inside, the décor gives it a modern feel, but viewed from the outside the pub is clearly much older. It actually dates from 1883, and was designed by Watson Fothergill, hence the name. Both meals and beers are aimed at the more discerning customer, with prices reflected in the quality. The handpumps dispense mainly local microbrewery beers. The pub opens from 8.00am in the summer months (June-August).
