A cosy split level pub with two bars, one on each level. There are six handpulls on each bar serving the same range of beers, two regulars and up to four guest ales. Families welcome in dining area at rear of the pub which serves good value meals. Disabled access via front door to lower bar while the side alley gives access to the upper bar. Attractive stained glass windows and historic artefacts are features of this pub.
Reopened September 2021 after extensive renovation, still on three levels separated by shallow steps. The single bar is at the lowest, street, level, with with the main linear seating area behind and a small seating area on the upper level to the rear. Three handpumps offer local beers one being a house beer. Quiz on Tuesday evenings.
