Metropolitan

Opening hours

Converted at some expense to the Metropolitan pub and restaurant, it is West Didsbury's busiest pub by far. It was sold around mid-2008. To say that this is impressive would be a gross understatement. Progressing through the usually very crowded bar, there is a lofty restaurant with hammer beam roof trusses. Large outdoor drinking area, where it has also been extended into the former stables with an outside bar (normally with cask Landlord on offer too) for better weather. Food forms a large part of the offering here, and you can dine almost anywhere in the place. Although very busy, the service was its usual good efficiency. What we did notice though was with so many people in, it does become very loud. And that's only through people talking, not music or such. History: until being bought by the next door ‘Nosebar’ around 2000, this was the troubled Midland Hotel, a vast Grand Metropolitan house with a history of trouble, drugs and criminality.
