George Hotel

This large, stone build, former coaching inn has had many alterations and extensions. The hotel has a large bar and dining area occupying most of the ground floor plus a separate function room, the Stable Bar in an old stable from the old Coaching Inn days. It has had connections with many notable people over the years. T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) wrote ‘Seven Pillars of Wisdom’ in what is now the restaurant. The hotel has recently changed hands.
