In the same hands for over 25 years, this convivial village pub at the heart of the local community. Originally built as a hotel, this imposing building dates from the 1890s. At the heart of the village in more ways than one, the pub is home to pool, dominoes, crib and darts teams, and two golf societies. Regular poker nights are held. The pool table is towards the rear and does not impinge on the main drinking area. A boules court in the car park is popular. The small lounge - no dogs allowed - has old photographs of the village and can be available for private bookings. The pub name refers to fishermen using the nearby Fossdyke, the country's oldest canal, where there are visitor moorings. Guest beers are often from the Star Taverns list. Note that prices increase after 5 pm on Friday and Saturday!
