Historic, town centre drinking establishment believed to be built on the site of a medieaval prison, with low oak-beamed ceilings. The telephone kiosk outside, produced by the General Post Office to the K6 design of 1936, is a listed building. During the shutdown 2020 - 2021 extensive improvement was carried out to the rear outdoor area including half a dozen heated pods seating up to four.
