In January 2017, the pub closed, and there were proposals to convert it into a house. Harborough District Council designated the pub as an Asset of Community Value (ACV). and in 2018 issued an enforcement notice requiring the unauthorised residential use to cease, based almost entirely on its status as an ACV. It is proposed to reopen the pub and restaurant in summer 2020.
