Built c. 1800 as a meeting place for miners from the Swithland quarry. This popular pub, on the outskirts of the village, is traditionally furnished with wood-beamed ceilings, open fires and a mixture of wooden pews and comfortable seating. Upstairs there is a more formal restaurant. Meals are served at lunchtime and evenings from the main menu and daily specials board. 20 pence per pint discount at all times for CAMRA card carrying members.
