Built at the same time as the nearby viaduct (1874). A welcome refuge in a bleak spot in the midst of superb walking country. Refurbished in 2017 to provide a rustic look throughout frequented by a surprisingly large number of locals. Good train service - but buses rare . Bunk barn next door, the wild camping behind the pub is no more.
