Busy roadside inn with a roaring fire next to the compact bar. Beers are from Jennings or Marston's many takeovers. Good food. Separate dining room. Close to the coast to coast walk and the start of the path to Helvellyn. Useful car park for walkers: pub charges £5 for the day - deductable from refreshments from the bar at the end of the day!
