Red Lion

A popular restaurant pub with a split level bar. The lion's head figure on the outside wall is said to be the figurehead taken from a Dutch ship captured at the Battle of Sole Bay in 1672, though it has also been suggested it came from a vessel wrecked off Benacre in about 1740. Parts of the building date from the late 16th century, with an early 19th century wing to the right.
