This comfortable pub, known as the New Inn until 1939, has one large L-shaped room fronting the road, which was created within the original 17th century building. This explains the rather low ceilings and the unusually low upholstered wall seats. There's an exposed stone fireplace, an area for standing drinkers facing the long bar, the latter leading to another drinking area and the pool table. The evening weekday meals are popular, with a mixture of traditional meals and Yorkshire Tapas. A traditional Sunday lunch is served. There is free pool on Mondays. Quiz night is Wednesday at 9pm.
