Olde Tavern

Opening hours

A real living and breathing Victorian time-warp: once called the Railway Tavern (the railway closed in the 1950s) and before that the Tavern in the Fields, it is a microcosm of the town’s development. To the left on entering the lobby (with original serving hatch intact), is a small bar with original timberwork; bench and alcove seating, and multi-various curios. To the right is the old smoke room with its fine flagstone floor and bench seating. There is always something going on and it has a strong local following.
