Known locally as the King Billy, this is a large double-fronted community-led pub with a large sporting following; five screens show BT sports. The pub hosts many local sports teams and has regular quiz and music nights including the ever popular GlastonBilly in August when local musicians play for charity over a full day.
There are splendid stained glass windows with the initials WR, possibly for William Richardson the landlord in the 1890s. The bar is to the right as you go in through a typical West Riding drinking lobby, although the interior has been modernised, the left-hand room is now the pool room. There are roaring fires in winter, and a hidden beer garden for the summer.
