The Nook, properly, the Rose & Crown, dates from 1754, and is a well known real ale pub in the village and has been dispensing beers from its own adjacent Brewhouse since 2009. There are occasional guest beers, and Pure North ciders. Home-cooked food is served daily. There are popular folk evenings every Sunday, and real ale festivals both on the weekend before Easter and on the August bank holiday. The log fire is particularly warming on cold winter nights.
