Since reopening in 2009, this village-centre free house has enjoyed deserved success. Nine handpumps provide ample variety, with the keenly priced house beers, Commerciale and Moonraker Mild supplied by Empire Brewery, five rotating guests sourced from far and wide, and a rotating guest cider. The Commercial is an essential stop for Transpennine Rail Ale Trailers and welcomes ramblers and their dogs. Downstairs, the open plan drinking area still gives the feel of separate rooms, and there is also an upstairs pool room. Sky sports and Racing UK are screened in the bar.
