Situated opposite Jane Austen's house it has been Chawton's pub since the time of the Spanish Armada. The restaurant area offers traditional English classics made from fresh ingredients. There is a large secluded garden with an extensive seating area plus "Chawton Village Library", a charity bookshop situated within the additional (working) outside lavatory.
