This is a large imposing building on the A325, half a mile south of the town centre on the eastern side of Farnborough Airport. Inside it is one bright and airy continuous space stretching in both directions from the single central bar. Clever use of partitions creates three distinct areas: tables laid for dining are down a few steps to the right, and there are mixed use areas in front of and to the left of the bar where it is equally OK to eat or just enjoy drinks. The décor is modern with a wooden floor and aviation themed pictures adorning the walls. The four handpumps feature ales from smaller independent breweries across south east and south central England. There is usually one which will be from a local brewery such as Ascot, Hog's Back or Triple fff. Although the beer range changes constantly, Wingtip Brewing's Autopilot golden ale is a frequent flyer and beers from Dorset Brewing are also regular visitors. The other beers are well chosen for a variety of styles and tastes. The pub is under the same management as the nearby Aviator hotel so the food is "gastro" style with an excellent reputation and represents good value for the quality. On weekday lunchtimes there is an additional "bar menu" with reasonably priced sandwiches and lighter meals. The pub holds monthly live music events and also a monthly quiz. Quarterly open mic nights are arranged as well. There is a good view of the airport runway from the terrace and grassed area of the beer garden. This makes it a popular venue during the bi-annual Farnborough Air Show week in July. A mini beer festival is held at this time with around 12 - 16 ales from small independent breweries across London and southern England. Next door to the pub is the "FAST" Museum, the Farnborough Air Sciences Trust, which is a must visit if you are interested in aviation history. A further 5 minute walk away are the historic RAE buildings where you can walk under the iconic airship hangar frame.
