Formerly the Rats Castle, reopened in November 2006 and nowadays the Albany brands itself as a gastropub appealing to a predominantly youngish crowd. It has a modern feel, with tiled and wooden flooring, flocked wallpaper and black leather furniture. There is a single bar serving the main pub area and a raised area to the rear; informal dining is welcome throughout, with food available lunchtime and evening during the week, all day Saturday and until late afternoon on Sunday. The piped music, tends to be unobtrusive and there is a pull down screen for showing major sporting events. As well as two regular beers from Caledonian there is also a changing guest beer available.
