Built in 1699, this old wheelwrights house (an original template still adorns the attractive garden) has been selling ale since the Beer Act 1830. With a large garden bordering the River Churn this spacious hostelry has two main areas: the right hand side of the building for LocAle-seeking drinkers, featuring flagstone floors and an inglenook fireplace, the other half given over to the restaurant and dining areas. In February 2018 new owners, Heartstone Inns completed a major refurbishment.
Winter opening times may be shorter.
