Lively, stone-built Victorian pub located at the top of Walkley Hill on the Rodborough and Minchinhampton road out of Stroud. The pub manages to be simultaneously bohemian, homely and welcoming, with a challenging colour scheme and a big reputation for live music.
The L-shaped bar boasts an eclectic mix of furniture, fittings and memorabilia - the walls covered with film and music posters - including a variety of chandeliers, and a log fire. The pub hosts a legendary May Bank Holiday beer festival, now in its eleventh year. Art exhibitions and themed nights are held, including quizzes, backgammon, crib, scrabble, folk music, stand-up comedy, open mic nights, live bands and even political hustings. Some events are ticketed (phone or check website).
Pop-up street food is available from Thursday to Sunday. At other times, bring your own food or phone for a takeaway.
Children and dogs welcome.
