A family run, traditional ale house. Popular with cyclists, cathedral visitors and fans attending Gloucester Rugby home matches. Multi-award winning for beer quality (Gloucestershire CAMRA Pub of the Year 2020, Gloucester City Pub of the Year 2014-18 & 2020. Good Beer Guide 2014-2022). Hosts two beer festivals each year in June and February with as many as 44 beers on offer aswell as a Tap-Takeover in November. 10 Real ales and 4 or 5 craft kegs on at all other times. Licensed as an alehouse in the 17th-Century, people believe that some of its beams could have come from Drake's "Golden Hind" which began life as the "Pelican".
