A traditional 16th-century free house in the village centre, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It is well-supported by locals and visitors alike, enjoying mainly award-winning food, West Country ales, and Sandford Orchards cider. Skittles are played four nights a week in the alley-cum-cinema-cum-conference venue. There are open mic music and comedy evenings. Seven Bed and Breakfast rooms are available. Children and dogs are welcome. It is frequented by the village football, squash and cricket teams. Quoted second best pub in Britain, 2014, from Alistair Sawdays.
