Large welcoming pub, situated just off the Esplanade in Old Fore Street, with a good ambience and friendly helpful staff. Popular with tourists and locals alike, with seating outside, and a garden at the rear. Three ales are usually on tap, 2 regulars and 1 guest. Good-value home-cooked food, using local produce where possible, is served all day, everyday. Live music is regularly featured, especially busy Sidmouth Folk Week. Won the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence award for 2012. Dogs are welcome outside but not inside.
