The only pub in Edinburgh directly on the seafront with panoramic windows giving superb views across the Firth of Forth to Fife, and seats outside in the summer. Those with an interest in marine wildlife should bring their binoculars. It has a colourful history, being situated in the 1821 booking office of a pier destroyed by a storm in 1898. Bits of the original pier can still be seen in the bar. Those not wishing to eat should note that, while there are a few seats at the bar for drinkers, most of the pub is given over to food, which is served all day with an emphasis on traditional Scottish ingredients.
