Tyneside Tavern

An unusual twin gable-ended building dating from the 18th century, this community pub and bistro lies next to an old watermill by the River Tyne at the southern edge of the town. The narrow bar, with its open fire in winter, is popular with locals. The lounge is now Mazzoli, a bistro serving Italian food, which is available all day Saturday and Sunday.
