Small, welcoming, traditional hotel by the historic brig over the Tyne in a pretty conservation village. There is a comfortably furnished public bar with at least one real ale from a Scottish microbrewery. To the rear is a pleasant coffee/dinning lounge while upstairs there is a large restaurant with modern styling. Food is served all day and the emphasis is on local produce, especially the steaks which reflects the owners previous occupation as a butcher. Stained glass windows and a roof top statue indicate the hotel's former name of the Red Lion.
