Formerly the Pestle & Mortar, this town-centre pub, with its mock-Jacobean exterior, is well served by buses and just a short walk from the railway station. It has a large main bar plus a spacious upstairs function room. Sadly the once extensive beer range has been slashed with just two pumps remaining and frequently only one beer on. An uncovered courtyard at the rear is provided for smokers. The pub can be lively at weekends when local bands are hosted.
