Refurbishment has not diminished the attractions of this welcoming Weardale institution. Situated opposite the town hall, it has a snug bar with compulsory chat, lounge, and formal dining room offering good food. To the rear is a south-facing garden, and there are tables to the front. Close to the Weardale Way, the pub is the base for the local cricket team, and hosts social events.
