Monument

Situated at the foot of local landmark Penshaw Monument, this is a popular and very friendly locals' pub. The small bar is dominated by a roaring real fire in winter and there is a separate games room. There is a beer garden at the rear of the pub and picnic tables at the front. The walls are decorated with old pictures tracing the history of the village. Food is limited to simple snacks and toasties. Tuesday is Quiz night, with dominoes on Sunday afternoon and Monday evening. There are bring your own vinyl evenings on Friday & Saturdays. Handy for Herrington Country Park and climbing up to the Monument. Suggest ringing to confirm opening times.
