John's Bar is the bar of St John;s College, part of Durham University. It has two bars - the main Cellar Bar and the Linton Bar which functions as an over-spill on a busy Wednesday night or can be opened on request for events. Only the Linton bar has disabled access. Despite being the smallest College Bar, John's Bar is far from limited in its selection. Offering a permanent Real Ale and 2 Guest Ales, the bar and the Real Ale Society pride themselves on their selection and availability. In addition to the draught products, the bar offers a selection of bottled beers and ciders, and a decent spirit selection. Also available are the infamous college drinks; the Tripod and the Ginception...! During term-time, John's Bar hosts events for students including Quiz nights and Open Mic Nights in partnership with John's Music Society. John's Bar hosts 'Brewfest', an annual beer-festival taking place in the summer, which showcases 12 Real Ale's and 4 Real Ciders, an afternoon of musical entertainment and food provided by a local establishment.
