Built mid-19th-century, formerly the racking room and later the tap room of Charrington's Brewery which stood next door, this Grade II listed building has an impressive facade, topped by inscription "Charrington's Fine Ales" on roof parapet, and featuring a cast iron relief panel which commemorates the United Order of Smiths. Stone panels high on Abbey Street side advertise "London Stout" and "Pale & Burton Ales". Internally, there is a single smart and comfortable U-shaped room. Live music some Friday and Saturday evenings. The inaugural meeting of Burton & South Derbyshire CAMRA was held here on 5th March 1975. While real ale was withdrawn in October 2013, it was resurrected in March 2015 for the local CAMRA branch's 40th anniversary and remains available.
