Basic but friendly traditional 19th-century pub, bedecked with flowers in spring and summer, close to the Trent & Mersey Canal.
Still known by locals as the Vine, its former name, it features a main bar with small linked rooms at each end, and a beer garden at the rear with a sheltered decking area and lawn. Outdoor drinking (with picnic tables) is also possible at the front of the pub and and across the road on an enclosed patio by the side of the canal, the latter includes a barbeque for the free use of customers.
Boaters (obviously!), cyclists and walkers are welcome. Popular with TV sport fans, especially Saturday afternoon rugby and horse racing.
