Beer Emporium

Opened in 2009. Large roomed friendly micropub and bottle shop with seating in the window at four tables for customers to drink in, plus a small room at the rear. Wide range of bottled and canned beers from UK, Europe,and USA, many bottled-conditioned, to drink in or take out. Four real ales are on hand-pump, normally with one dark beer, frequently from local small breweries, and four key keg lines have also been added. Frequently, one beer from local brewery, Merlin. Beer range and quality has been maintained since the change of ownership in mid 2016. Although there is no food, drinkers can bring in their own, with a chip shop and sandwich shop opposite. Unique quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Now signed up to the Oakademy scheme from Oakham. Was in continuous use as a butchers shop from Victorian times until 2009. Remained open for takeaway drinks throughout the 2020 and 2021 lockdowns, providing a much needed source of real ale.
