Large Wetherspoon's outlet situated in the town-centre. The pub takes its name from the 1866 George Eliot novel of the same name and is reflected in its decor of books and pictures of local history. Good range of both local and other guest ales with Oakham and Byatts being regulars. Food is served from 8am to 11pm, there is a heated area for smokers.
