Swan Hotel

A large Old English Inn with extra rooms added in new outbuildings. There are plenty of different areas on different levels in this pub with a central bar set up to handle residents, diners and drinkers. It is located opposite the church at the higher northern side of Thaxted where there used to be other pubs but none now remain. Thaxted is a pretty gem of a town still, with a windmill and interesting historical buildings worth a visit.
