Built in the 16th century, this former Dunmow Brewery establishment has been enlarged to incorporate a restaurant and accommodation; the bar is in the original part of the building. The quiet hamlet here overlooks the Chelmer Valley, two miles from historic Thaxted. A disused well in the garden supplied Monk Street with water during World War II. There is a rear patio, front garden and a top field. Draught cider from Westons is usually available.
