In the hands of the Dengie’s longest-serving landlord, this pretty, partly thatched 16th-century Gray’s pub is set in extensive well-maintained grounds with a small pond (which tends to dry up in summer)and children’s play area. Camping and caravanning available on an adjacent five-acre site. Food available noon-2.30pm every day and from 6pm-8.45pm Tue-Sat. The landlord rings the changes on the beer front from time to time.
