Recently refurbished and reopened under new management with a restaurant rapidly gaining in reputation. Originally built in 1612 and named after a powerful local family. During the second world war the pubs inglenook fireplaces were used as a local soup kitchen for the local now disused airfield. The pub is in a small village off the A48 and provides comfortable dining in an attractive lounge and a smaller drinking area, each with a roaring log fire. Seating outside at the back is accompanied by a large car park.
