A traditional village pub with attractive informal gardens. It has long had a reputation for the quality of its beer. This has been maintained under two changes of licensee, the most recent of whom took over in February 2017. They now offer guest ales as well as Greene King regulars. The Abbot is served direct from the cask. The cosy little public bar, with its tiled floor, enormous fireplace and upholstered benches, is a delight. The lounge has less character but is pleasant enough with a pool table and music.
The pub has barbecues in warmer weather and will also serve ploughman's and scotch eggs. The Hoops sponsors the village veteran's (over 35) football team.
