A major renovation a few years back transformed what had been, internally at least, a rather characterless place into something altogether more attractive. A pitched roof replaced the flat one in the bar area removing the old claustrophobic feel; the roof space is draped with large tapestries covered in latin script. A small conservatory extension leads onto a patio area and the impressive garden. There is also a restaurant ("Phoebe's Parlour") and food generally is very important here. An 11 room hotel adjoins in a separate building. Expensive beer.
