The pub occupies a 16th century thatched building of Tudor design. It overlooks the 22 acre green which is claimed to be the longest in England. A vintage car club meets here on the first Friday of the month.
Inside, the pub has been opened up somewhat but retains three distinct sections. Exposed beams abound. The pubby bit is round the bar and the area to the right of it. Here you can drink with or without food. To the left, through the former fireplace (mind your head) is the first dining area. From here, to the rear, is a large conservatory also for dining.
Although free of tie its ales tend to be sourced from the Greene King group. The house beer, Toadrage, is from Greene King. An Adnam's beer is often available.
