Friendly community pub. The pub has escaped the fashion for 'opening out' and still keeps its two bar status (complete with the obligatory wooden beams and wood paneling) and a separate games room. As well as the rear garden there is a seating area at the front. The Greene King IPA is by popular demand. The other two hand-pumps may feature ales from local breweries (including the village-based Roughacre brewery) as well as national beers like Spitfire and London Pride. Bottle conditioned Roughacre beers are always available. Sausage & mash, featuring locally sourced sausages, are free for drinkers on Wednesday evening. Thursday is steak night, Friday is fish & chip night. Food Saturday evenings - pre-book only. Sunday roasts.
Formerly the Cock Inn, it became the Oak in April 2019. Schoolboys no longer snigger.
