Situated at the shopping precinct end of the High Street opposite Waitrose, previously named the Queens Head. A traditional town centre pub that reopened in November 2016 after extensive remodelling, as a "neighbourhood cafe bar". The new name comes from Coates Cider, which was once made in Nailsea. Run by the same people as Hawkes House in Thornbury and Theoc House in Tewkesbury. Dark, Amber and Golden real ales, sourced from breweries within about twenty miles, change every two weeks, with a real cider changing every six months. The seasonal menus use local fresh produce and include tapas, wraps, brunch, street food, pub grub, burgers, and light bites. Board games and toys are available.
Entering past the courtyard seating at the front, the bar with log burning real fire and toilet for disabled is to the right, straight ahead is the staircase to the toilets and a roof garden. To the left is a lounge seating area leading through to the main eating area, kitchen and bifold doors to the rear courtyard with more outside seating and rear exit. The tables, chairs and stools are an interesting collection of reused furniture. NB Dog Friendly does not apply to the lower dining area adjacent to the kitchen. Smoking areas in courtyards at front and rear of premises. Events, when pre-booking is advisable, include Jazz Club second and last Wednesday of every month, Beer and Burger Thursdays, and Quiz Night every Sunday.
