Tucked away in a side street, this popular local has an eclectic clientele and decor to match. The wooden floors, coloured fairy lights, and intriguing range of memorabilia and artefacts create a welcoming grotto-like atmosphere. Notable features include a rare refurbished skittle alley, carved wooden mirrors and window frames from a local artist, and the 'Grand Old Duke of York' exterior mural, also by a local artist. Upstairs there's a function room with a second bar and sofas to lounge on, and the outside garden seating area is popular in summer. The pub serves four changing beers, mostly from breweries in Bristol and the surrounding area, such as New Bristol Brewery, Bristol Beer Factory, Tiny Rebel and Electric Bear. Two Thatchers bag-in-box ciders are usually available and there is a good range of bottled beers. The Wednesday quiz night starts at 9pm. Children are welcome until 8pm.
