Under new management (Mark and Lindsay) since August Bank Holiday 2020. The Craven is a pleasant white-washed Thwaites pub situated next to Stainforth Beck. Retaining a multi-roomed layout, there is a small tap room on the left as you enter, a wood-panelled lounge at the rear and a further snug with an interesting stained-glass window beyond the bar. The accommodation (six rooms) was refurbished in 2017/8. A community pub, the Craven is also popular with walkers - it is close to Pen-y-Ghent, Catrigg Force, Stainforth Foss and Craven Lime Works, one of the largest industrial archeology sites in the Dales. Note: Direct access to the Camping and Caravan Site at Knight Stainforth Hall over the vary narrow arched bridge is on foot, by bicycle or in a small car only, larger vehicles especially camper vans and caravans must go via Settle. Take-away fish and chips available Thursday and Friday 5.30-7.
