Red Lion Hotel

Opening hours

Built around 1650 as a beer shop, the Red Lion is a small, three-roomed free house, owned and run by the Reid family. The downstairs has been fully refurbished and is decorated in a contemporary style. The main bar area is stone-flagged and is warmed by a glowing multi-fuel stove in a huge fireplace. The snug to the right of the entrance has wooden flooring and a hatch to the bar. The upstairs games room (stairs to the left of the fireplace) has settees, a pool table and dartboard. There is a small outdoor drinking/smoking area in the courtyard to the side of the pub and a new beer garden at the rear via some steps. The Cobbydale Brewery is located in the outbuildings and the beer varies. There is a disco/karaoke/live band once a month - check the pub's Facebook page for details. Loyalty scheme from noon to 6pm Monday to Friday.
