Dating from the late 18th century this white-washed three gabled building was once a nail makers workshop before becoming a brewery. The popular bar has a traditional quarry tiled floor together with a real fire and television. Two regular and two guest ales are usually on tap. A reasonably priced food menu is available in the lounge and the carvery restaurant is a very popular. A beer festival has become a popular attraction in the pub's calendar during May with further events advertised throughout the year on their website. Valley House, the birthplace of A.E. Housman is nearby.
